Tots Pretend

Tots Pretend offers drama and role‑play classes for young children.

In each session, children go on themed adventures that help them build important skills, such as:

  • imagination
  • confidence
  • communication
  • empathy
  • motor skills

Every week, the children use crates and props to build pretend worlds.

The children are always at the centre of the role play.

Why Tots Pretend Was Created

Tots Pretend was created by a drama teacher with 17 years of experience.

They are also a parent of two children who love pretend play.

Through watching children play at home, they saw how role play helps children learn about the world.
Children practise skills such as:

  • negotiation
  • compromise
  • empathy
  • communication
  • problem‑solving

Role play also helps children explore different situations and use everyday objects to build imaginary worlds.

How Role Play Helps Children Learn

Learning through role play helps children:

  • develop communication skills
  • understand themselves and others
  • build empathy by thinking about how someone else might feel or act
  • improve motor skills through movement and acting out characters
  • use their imagination to explore new pretend places

Most of All… It’s Fun!

Pretend play is enjoyable for children and their families.

When imaginations are used, there is no limit to the stories and worlds children can create.

Disability: we welcome all children but classes particularly help children develop social and communication skills.
