Green Meadows Academy - Secondary 11 to 19 years

At GMA Secondary, pupils have similar needs to those in the primary school. Pupils can continue their education at GMA until the age of 19 through the post‑16 provision.

Pupils are placed in classes based on their age, Key Stage, and individual needs. Learning focuses on key subjects that all pupils study. These include:

  • English and literacy
  • Maths and numeracy
  • Science
  • PSHE (personal, social, health and education)

These subjects are taught by specialist teachers who understand pupils’ needs.

As pupils move through the school, learning changes to support the next steps. Some pupils may work towards qualifications, such as Functional Skills. Others focus more on life skills, such as food preparation and independence.

At different times during the year, pupils take part in shared themes and projects. Classes work together so pupils can learn with different students and staff. This helps build confidence, social skills, and teamwork.
